[Photos] Man Utd handed injury boost but 4 players miss training ahead of Brighton

Alexis Sanchez was back in training today but four other players were absent as Manchester United began their preparations for Saturday’s Premier League clash with Brighton.
Sanchez missed United’s 1-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley last weekend after suffering a minor set-back in his recovery from a hamstring injury that saw him miss the whole of December.
The Chilean international has handed Man Utd a boost as the attacker was able to take part in training at Carrington this afternoon so should be back in contention for the visit of Brighton to Old Trafford this weekend.
However, Chris Smalling was still absent from training as the centre-back continues to recover from a foot injury that’s seen him miss United’s last eight matches in all competitions and it remains to be seen whether he’ll be fit to return to the squad on Saturday.
Paul Pogba was also not among the players to take part in training today. The midfielder missed the recent FA Cup win over Reading with a minor knee problem but was able to play the full ninety minutes against Tottenham last Sunday.
It’s not clear whether Pogba missed training due to any fitness reasons or whether it’s related to his partner being due to give birth any day now but it would be a surprise if he wasn’t involved against Brighton.
Nemanja Matic was another absentee from training today but it’s not known whether he’s picked up a knock or whether Ole Gunnar Solskjaer just gave the 30-year-old an extended breather.
Marcos Rojo was the fourth player to miss training as the defender is back in Argentina recovering from an unspecified injury but Eric Bailly should return to the Man Utd squad this weekend after serving his three-game ban.
