Ornstein claims Arsenal are working on 2 new signings & names Spaniard as target
David Ornstein claims Arsenal are looking to bring in two new loan signings this month with Barcelona midfielder Denis Suarez one of the prime targets.
The January transfer window is open and managers are working hard on strengthening their squads and identifying targets for the summer so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest rumours. Today, Arsenal are hoping to sign two players this month….
Respected BBC journalist David Ornstein claims Arsenal are looking to bring in two new loan signings this month with Barcelona midfielder Denis Suarez one of the prime targets.
Unai Emery admitted earlier this month that he was looking to strengthen his injury-hit squad but was targetting loan deals as he had no funds available to make permanent transfers this winter.
Hector Bellerin has joined the long-term casualty list as the right-back has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a cruciate knee ligament injury that he sustained during the win over Chelsea at the weekend.
It’s been reported that Emery will resist the temptation to bring in another right-back but with Rob Holding and Danny Welbeck also out for the rest of the season, he is looking to sign a couple of players with an attacking midfielder a priority.
Suarez has been strongly linked with a move to Arsenal in recent weeks with widespread reports suggesting that we’re in talks with Barcelona over a potential deal for the Spanish attacker – who’s struggled to hold down a regular place this season.
The 25-year-old has just 18 months left on his contract so Barca are keen to cash-in but Arsenal’s financial situation means we’re hoping to sign Suarez on an initial six-month loan deal with a view to making it permanent in the summer.
David Ornstein has now issued an update and has confirmed Suarez is one of two players Arsenal are hoping to sign on loan this month but the BBC journalist insists a deal with Barcelona isn’t close.
Ornstein tweeted:
#AFC want 2 loan deals, 1 being Suarez but not close
We’ll have to wait and see how talks progress over the coming days but it looks like it could be a busy end to the January window as Arsenal try to strengthen the squad ahead of the second half of the season.

Suarez can play as a central midfielder or on the wing so he’d be a useful addition to the squad but with Bellerin and Holding both out with long-term injuries, I hope Emery is also looking to bring in another defender this month.
