FA Cup 5th round draw: Chelsea to face Man Utd, Man City given away trip

Manchester United, Chelsea and Manchester City have learned their fate after the draw for the fifth round of the FA Cup has been conducted this evening.

Manchester United, Chelsea and Manchester City have learned their fate after the draw for the fifth round of the FA Cup has been conducted this evening.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer continued his faultless start to life as caretaker manager after United beat Arsenal 3-1 at the Emirates on Friday night to book their place in the hat for the fifth round draw.

Goals from Alexis Sanchez, Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial sealed the victory and United will now face another trip to London after being drawn to face current FA Cup holders Chelsea.

The Blues eased in to the fifth round after seeing-off League Two Sheffield Wednesday 3-0 on Sunday afternoon thanks largely to a brace from Willian. Maurizio Sarri’s men will now host Man Utd at Stamford Bridge in the next round.

Man City also made light work of their fourth round tie as they battered Burnley 5-0 at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday afternoon with Kevin De Bruyne the chief architect during the comprehensive win.

Pep Guardiola’s side will now take on the winners of Middlesbrough and Newport County after they drew 1-1 at the Riverside over the weekend.

Obviously the stand-out tie is Chelsea vs Manchester United but the winners will have a great chance of making it to Wembley while Man City will be confident of getting past either Boro or Newport.

The ties will be played on the weekend of 15th-18th February.
