The January transfer window is closed but managers are still looking ahead to the summer so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, Man Utd join Arsenal and Liverpool in the race to sign Adrien Rabiot…
Manchester United have joined the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and Barcelona in the race to sign Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Adrien Rabiot this summer, according to reports in Spain via the Mirror.
Rabiot joined PSG in 2012 and has gone on to make over 220 first team appearances for the French giants but the midfielder is set to leave on a free transfer when his contract expires at the end of the season.
The 23-year-old has failed to agree terms with PSG over an extension and has been frozen out of the first team set-up by boss Thomas Tuchel since making it clear he won’t be signing a new deal at the Parc des Princes with his last appearance coming back on December 11th.
The Frenchman’s situation has alerted a whole host of top European clubs with the Mirror claiming that Arsenal and Liverpool are hoping to lure Rabiot to the Premier League while Spanish champions Barcelona are also leading contenders for his signature.
Arsenal are in the market for another midfielder after Aaron Ramsey confirmed he’ll join Juventus on a free transfer this summer and it seems Unai Emery is eyeing a reunion with Rabiot having worked with him during his time at PSG.
Liverpool are also being tipped to bring in another midfielder at the end of the season as James Milner is coming towards the end of his career while Jordan Henderson has struggling with niggling injuries this campaign and Rabiot is reportedly on Jurgen Klopp’s radar.
However, it seems Arsenal and Liverpool will face further competition for his signature as the Mirror are citing a report from AS that claims Man Utd have now joined the race to sign Rabiot this summer.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is the bookies favourite to be named as United’s next permanent manager and the Norwegian coach could be lining-up Rabiot as a replacement for Marouane Fellaini following his January move to China.
United chiefs could get the chance to watch Rabiot up close tonight as despite falling out of favour at PSG, the midfielder has been included in their travelling squad for tonight’s Champions League clash at Old Trafford.
