Arsenal are eyeing a summer swoop to sign Kai Havertz but will face a battle with Bayern Munich to land the £50m-rated Bayer Leverkusen midfielder, according to reports in Italy via the Mirror.
Unai Emery is expected to continue to overhaul the squad he inherited from Arsene Wenger with the Spanish coach tipped for another busy transfer window this summer having already brought in six new faces since arriving last June.
A new attacking midfielder could be on the agenda as Mesut Ozil is being forced out of the club having been frozen out of the Arsenal first team by Emery in recent months and it looks as though we’re already identifying potential targets.
The Mirror are citing a report from Calciomercato that claims Arsenal representatives are keeping a close eye on Bayer Leverkusen attacking midfielder Kai Havertz ahead of a potential summer swoop.
The 19-year-old came through the youth ranks at Leverkusen and is now considered to be one of the most exciting young talents in German football having established himself as a regular in Peter Bosz’s starting eleven.
Havertz has already racked up 91 appearances for the Bundesliga outfit over the past two-and-a-half years and he’s also broken in to the senior German squad with 2 caps to his name so far.
The versatile midfielder has provided an impressive 11 goals and 6 assists in his 28 appearances so far this season to help Leverkusen challenge for a European qualification place and it seems his superb form has alerted Arsenal.
However, we’ll face stiff competition as the Mirror claims that Bayern Munich are also in the hunt for Havertz and are hoping to secure a deal worth around £50m to take him to the Allianz Arena this summer.

Bayern are formidable at snapping-up any top talent in Germany so it’s going to be difficult to beat them to Havertz’s signature but I think the teenager would be an exciting addition to the squad if we could somehow win the race.
