Chelsea are in pole position to reach the Europa League final after coming from behind to secure a 1-1 draw against Eintracht Frankfurt in Germany this evening.
The hosts started well and opened the scoring midway through the first half when Luka Jovic scored his 26th goal of the season with a stooping header from a fine delivery from Filip Kostic in the 23rd minute.
Chelsea grabbed a vital equaliser just second before half-time as Loftus-Cheek set-up Pedro on the edge of the area and the Spaniard showed quick feet before firing into the far corner for 1-1 at the break.
Both sides had chances to win it in the second half but there were no further goals to add to the score-line so Chelsea will take a respectable 1-1 draw back to Stamford Bridge for the second leg next week.
The Blues will be more than happy with a 1-1 draw from the first leg as they’ll be confident of getting the job done at home to book their place in the Europa League final.
