Liverpool & Tottenham are threatening to hijack Man Utd’s proposed move for Bruno Fernandes as the Sporting Lisbon attackers agent prepares to hold talks over a move to England, according to reports in Portugal via TeamTalk.

Fernandes has become one of the most in-demand players in European football having enjoyed a stunning season for Sporting last year that saw him provide an impressive 32 goals and 18 assists in just 53 games.

The 24-year-old has attracted interest from a number of top clubs but Man Utd emerged as the front-runners with the Mirror citing a report from A Bola earlier this week that claimed United have made the attacker a prime target.

The Portuguese outlet suggested that Man Utd chiefs were planning to try and trash out a deal worth in the region of £62m-£72m during talks this week with a view to formally announcing Fernandes’s arrival after his participation at the Nations League this weekend.

Ole Gunner Solskjaer is expected to be extremely busy this summer revamping a squad that finished sixth last season and Fernandes could be viewed as a replacement for Paul Pogba amid speculation the Frenchman could leave Old Trafford.

However, it looks like United will face competition as Record, via TeamTalk, are reporting today that Liverpool and Tottenham have joined the race to sign Fernandes and could now hijack Man Utd’s proposed move.

The report says the Portuguese international’s agent is due to fly-in to England for talks with United but he may now also schedule meetings with Liverpool and Tottenham after they made a late play for his signature.

Mauricio Pochettino is on the market for a creative midfielder as Christian Eriksen has opened the door to a move to Real Madrid so the Tottenham boss could be eyeing Fernandes as a direct replacement for the Danish star.

Jurgen Klopp is only expected to make minor adjustments to his squad this summer after winning the Champions League but Liverpool have never properly replaced Philippe Coutinho so they could be looking at Fernandes to fill the void.

We’ll have to wait and see how things progress over the coming days but it looks like Fernandes could be heading to the Premier League this summer and I think he’d be a hugely exciting signing for United, Liverpool or Spurs.
