Premier League title odds and favourites for 2019/20

The players may still be on their holidays but preparations are well underway ahead of the 2019/20 Premier League season with managers working hard trying to strengthen their squad’s in the transfer market.

Once the Premier League season kicks off, bettors will be looking for the best odds and sites to use. That’s why these MTS rankings have a verified review process for there books. The title race as a two-team contest between Man City (5/7) and Liverpool (12/5). Together, their odds represent an 81% chance of lifting the trophy. Adding in the rest of the Big Six – Tottenham (16/1), Man U (20/1), Chelsea (25/1) and Arsenal (33/1) – the chances increase to 97%.

Looking at the advanced statistics, Wolverhampton at 200/1 represents the best chance of a Leicester-style upset. Wolves finished 7th in the table with 57 points and just a +1 goal difference, but based on Expected Goals For and Expected Points, which are based on controlling play and generating scoring chances, they should have been a top-six team with a +11 differential.

Arsenal are seen by many bookmakers as the club most likely to fall out of the Big Six. They finished fifth last season and Unai Emery has a tight budget to work from this summer so it will be difficult for him to dramatically improve their squad. Man Utd on the other hand have practically endless money available so Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is expected to splash the cash as they look to get themselves back in contention after finishing sixth last season. A top four finish would be seen as a very good season for either club next year.

It will be an interesting campaign for Chelsea as they look to replace Maurizio Sarri following his exit. The Blues finished third in the table and won the Europa League last season but it wasn’t enough to save Sarri’s job. Eden Hazard has also left Stamford Bridge after joining Real Madrid. Losing their best player could easily cost Chelsea 10 points this coming season and they can’t replace him as they’re currently serving a transfer ban. Whoever replaces Sarri has a tough job to do and they’ll do well to repeat their feats of last season.

Tottenham’s title challenge fell away towards the end of last year as they turned their focus to the Champions League – which eventually ended with a disappointing 2-0 defeat to Liverpool in the final. Mauricio Pochettino could lose a couple of key players this summer so I think the best they can hope for is a third-placed finish next campaign.

It looks like it will be Manchester City vs Liverpool once again for the title. The two heavy-weights slugged it out in one of the best title races in recent memory with Pep Guardiola’s men edging out the Merseysiders by one point to reclaim their title. It will be interesting to see who comes out on top next year but it seems a certainty that either City or Liverpool will be crowned champions in 2019/20 as they finished 25 points clear of their nearest rivals last season.
