Arsenal to submit offer after holding talks with agent of wantaway 26-year-old star
Wilfried Zaha wants to leave Crystal Palace for Arsenal and Unai Emery is set to submit an offer for the £80m attacker following talks with his agent
Managers are working hard trying to strengthen their squads during the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, Arsenal are ready to formalise their interest in Wilfried Zaha…
Wilfried Zaha is keen to leave Crystal Palace for Arsenal and Unai Emery is set to submit a formal offer for the £80m-rated attacker following talks with his agent, according to Sky Sports.
Emery is expected to be busy strengthening his ranks over the coming weeks ahead of the new season and he’s in the market for a wide forward this summer as we severely lack any genuine width in the squad.
Zaha has been identified as a prime target and Sky Sports claim the 26-year-old has decided to leave Crystal Palace with a move to Arsenal described as a ‘dream’ due to the fact he grew up supporting the club.
The news outlet says Arsenal are now expected to test Crystal Palace’s resolve with a formal opening offer after holding initial talks with Zaha’s agent about the possibility of doing a deal this summer.
However, a move isn’t going to be easy as Palace are determined to hold on to Zaha after losing Aaron Wan-Bissaka to Manchester United and Sky Sports claim they’ve slapped an £80m price-tag on his head.
That valuation will prove to be a major stumbling block for Arsenal as Emery is working on a tight budget of around £45m after failing to qualify for the Champions League and he needs to sign a number of players this summer.
Palace are under no pressure to sell on the cheap as Zaha is tied to a long-term contract and they’ll want top dollar because Man Utd will be owed 25% of any transfer fee due to a sell-on clause that was included in the deal that took the attacker to Selhurst Park in 2015.
The Daily Mail claim Zaha has pleaded with Palace chairman Steve Parish to lower their valuation and agree a deal with Arsenal but it remains to be seen whether the two clubs will be able to find an agreement.

We’ll have to wait and see how things develop but Zaha provided 10 goals and 5 assists for Palace last season so he’d certainly bring an added goal threat in the final third and I think he’d be an excellent signing if Arsenal could pull it off.
