Arsenal have opened talks with Gremio over a potential deal to sign £12m-rated centre-back Walter Kannemann this summer, according to reports in Brazil via the Metro.

At least one of the duo may leave the Emirates over the coming weeks so a replacement will be needed and the Metro are citing a report from Globo Esporte that claims Arsenal have identified Kannemann as a potential signing.
The Metro says Arsenal have been tracking the 28-year-old for some time having been linked with a move back in January and it looks like we’ve now stepped-up our interest in singing the centre-back this summer.

Brazilian publication Globo Esporte claims negotiations are under way with Gremio over a deal for Kannemann and the Brazilian outfit are ready to do business if Arsenal put a bid of £12m on the table.
That kind of money will be tempting for Arsenal as Emery is working on a tight budge and Kannemann will be a cheaper alternative compared to the likes of Samuel Umtiti and William Saliba – who’ve also been linked in recent weeks.

However, we’ll face competition for the Argentinean international as the report says Wolves are also showing a keen interest in signing Kannemann so we’ll have to wait and see whether he’ll become our second summer signing following the arrival of Gabriel Martinelli.
