Arsenal table offers worth £97m as Emery looks to seal huge double swoop
Arsenal have launched a sensational £97m double swoop to sign Kieran Tierney and Nicolas Pepe according to reports today.
Managers are working hard trying to strengthen their squads during the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Here, Arsenal have made bids for Kieran Tierney and Nicolas Pepe….
First up and the BBC are one of several media outlets reporting that Arsenal have submitted an improved £25m offer to sign Celtic left-back Kieran Tierney.
Unai Emery is desperate to strengthen his defence ahead of the new season and left-back has been identified as a key area of concern amid on-going doubts over Nacho Monreal and Sead Kolasinac.
Tierney has been touted as a prime target in recent weeks and the BBC claims Arsenal have now tested Celtic’s resolve with an improved £25m bid after seeing our opening £15m offer rejected late last month.
The Scottish champions don’t appear to have responded to Arsenal’s latest offer but it will be difficult for them to turn down £25m so Tierney could be about to become the most expensive player in Scottish history.
The 22-year-old has been one of the best players in the SPL since coming through the youth ranks at Parkhead and I think he’d be an excellent signing if Arsenal can fend off rival interest from Napoli to get this proposed £25m deal wrapped-up.
Emery is also keen to bring in another wide attacker and French publication Telefoot claims Arsenal have submitted a stunning £72m [80m euro] offer for Lille star Nicolas Pepe.
The Ivory Coast international has been strongly linked with a move to the Premier League this summer with Arsenal named as one of several clubs to have expressed their interest in luring him to England.
However, it appears we’ve now launched a sensational move to try and sign Pepe ahead of our rivals as respected French outlet L’Equipe have verified Telefoot’s claim that Arsenal have tabled a £72m offer for the winger.
The report says Inter Milan and Paris Saint-Germain are also in the race to sign Pepe and they’re expected to submit their offers over the coming days so it’s going to be interesting to see how this plays out.
If these reports are accurate then I can only assume Arsenal are about to sell either Alexandre Lacazette or Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as I don’t see how we could afford to spend £72m on Pepe without generating huge funds by selling one of our key men.
Pepe would no doubt be an excellent signing as he contributed 23 goals and 12 assists for Lille last season and he can play anywhere across the front three positions so he’d provide Emery with plenty of options.

It would be a mega £97m double swoop if Arsenal could sign Tierney and Pepe, however, some British media outlet have dismissed the reports coming out of France and insist we haven’t made a bid for the Lille forward so we’ll have to wait and see how things develop.
