Arsenal submit £55m bid as Emery looks to secure deal for key target
Arsenal have submitted an offer for Crystal Palace attacker Wilfried Zaha worth £55m up front and a further £10m in add-ons plus Reiss Nelson on loan
Managers are working hard trying to strengthen their squads during the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Here, Arsenal table a fresh offer for Wilfried Zaha….
Arsenal have submitted an improved offer for Crystal Palace attacker Wilfried Zaha worth £55m up front and a further £10m in add-ons plus Reiss Nelson on loan, according to the Independent.
Unai Emery is desperately trying to strengthen his squad ahead of the new season after we finished fifth last year but the Gunners boss has so far only managed to land Brazilian teenager Gabriel Martinelli.
Zaha has been touted as one of Emery’s prime targets by the media this summer as we look to add some much-needed width to our squad but Arsenal chiefs have been struggling to agree terms with Crystal Palace.
Sky Sports News reported late last week that Zaha had informed Palace he wants to leave Selhurst Park and Arsenal were preparing a fresh offer after seeing an opening £40m offer knocked back by the Eagles.
It seems that bid has now gone in as the Independent are reporting that Arsenal have tabled an offer worth £55m up front and a further £10m in add-ons while we’ve also floated the idea of Palace having Reiss Nelson or Bukayo Saka on loan as part of the deal.
Nelson or Saka would provide Palace with a direct short-term replacement for Zaha and the idea does appeal to the Londoners, however, the Independent says Arsenal’s latest offer is still well short of their £80m valuation.
Apparent sources have told the paper that an agreement is expected to be found in the end but Arsenal need to up the guaranteed cash element of the deal while Palace are also open to the idea of taking Carl Jenkinson on a permanent basis.
No doubt Arsenal would be happy to include Jenkinson as part of the deal as he doesn’t seem to have any long-term future under Emery but it’s always difficult to include players as part of an already complex deal.

We’ll have to wait and see how things develop over the coming days but I think Zaha would be an exciting addition to the squad if we could eventually get a deal agreed to bring him to the Emirates.
