Arsenal are set to announce a new signing later today as Unai Emery closes-in on a double for Dani Ceballos and William Saliba, according to the Independent.

Emery has endured a frustrating summer as we’ve struggled to get deals agreed for top targets such as Wilfried Zaha and Kieran Tierney meaning Brazilian youngster Gabriel Martinelli is our only significant addition so far.

However, Arsenal are expected to be extremely active during the closing two weeks of the window and it looks as though Emery has secured two new signings with Ceballos and Saliba on the verge of moving to north London.

The Independent says Ceballos is set to join Arsenal on a season-long loan deal from Real Madrid while Saliba will complete a £27m move before being immediately loaned back to Saint-Etienne for next season.

The newspaper says one deal is expected to be announced on Wednesday evening and it appears Ceballos is the most likely as Sport claims the midfielder will complete his move to Arsenal today.

The Spanish outlet says the 22-year-old arrived in London with his lawyer on Tuesday to undergo his medical and finalise his loan move with Arsenal securing first refusal should Madrid decide to sell next summer.

Ceballos will be a direct replacement for Aaron Ramsey following his move to Juventus and he should prove to be an excellent addition to the squad having starred for Spain en route to them winning the 2019 U21 European Championships.

Saliba’s move should also be announced over the coming days and the 18-year-old should prove to be an excellent long-term replacement for Laurent Koscielny at the heart of Arsenal’s defence.

The youngster emerged as one of the most exciting young talents in French football last season so hopefully he’ll develop his game further at Saint-Etienne over the next 12 months and be even stronger when he arrives at Arsenal next summer.
