Sky Sports reporter: Arsenal close to agreeing deal for 22-year-old star
Kieran Tierney is keen to hold talks with Arsenal over a move to the Emirates with the Gunners close to agreeing a deal with Celtic
We’re now at the business end of the summer transfer window and managers are working hard trying to strengthen their squads so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Here, the latest on Arsenal’s pursuit of Kieran Tierney….
Kieran Tierney is keen to hold talks with Arsenal over a move to the Emirates with the Gunners now close to agreeing a deal with Celtic, according to Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol.
Unai Emery has reportedly been chasing Tierney all summer as the Spanish coach looks to strengthen his options at left-back due to on-going concerns over Nacho Monreal and Sead Kolasinac but a tight transfer budget has hampered negotiations.
The Daily Record claimed last week that Arsenal were plotting a third bid for the 22-year-old after seeing an improved offer worth £25m knocked back by Celtic due to concerns over the structure of the deal.
The SPL Champions felt Arsenal had included too many add-ons in the proposal and they wanted the majority of the fee paid up front while the newspaper report also suggested Celtic were asking for a sell-on clause to be added to Tierney’s contract.
It seems a deal is edging closer as Kaveh Solhekol has now claimed that Arsenal are close to matching Celtic’s asking price with the two clubs believed to be ‘only a couple of million pounds’ apart in their valuations.
The Sky Sports reporter also says Tierney is keen to hold talks with Arsenal over a move to the Emirates if a deal can be agreed with Celtic. Solhekol tweeted:
Difference between what Arsenal are offering for Kieran Tierney and what Celtic want is “only a couple of million pounds”. Player is happy at Celtic but would like the chance to speak to Arsenal if deal can be agreed
We’ll have to wait and see what happens over the coming days but it seems Arsenal are close to finding an agreement with Celtic and Tierney would be an excellent addition to the squad if we could lure him to north London.
The Scottish international has developed into one of the best full-backs in British football since coming through the youth ranks at Parkhead and he’s already captained Celtic so he has plenty of experience for a player still so young.

I think we’ll agree a deal in the end and it’s promising to be a busy couple of weeks at Arsenal as Emery looks to sign Tierney, William Saliba, Dani Ceballos and a winger before the window closes ahead of the new season.
