Arsenal table £36m bid for South American star as Emery eyes 4th summer signing
Arsenal have submitted a £36m bid to sign Everton Soares as Unai Emery turns his attention to the Gremio winger as an alternative to Wilfried Zaha
We’re now at the business end of the summer transfer window and managers are working hard trying to strengthen their squads so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Here, Arsenal have made their move for Everton Soares….
Arsenal have submitted a £36m bid to sign Everton Soares as Unai Emery turns his attention to the Gremio winger as an alternative to Wilfried Zaha, according to the Mirror.
Emery took his summer transfer tally to three players yesterday after completing a double swoop for Dani Ceballos and William Saliba but the Gunners boss is still hoping to bring in at least two more faces before the window shuts on August 8th.
A winger is on the agenda and Arsenal have been locked in negotiations with Crystal Palace for Zaha but have so far refused to meet their hefty valuation – reportedly in excess of £70m – after seeing a £40m offer knocked back.
The Telegraph claim that Chelsea and Everton have joined the race to sign the Ivory Coast international which will make it even harder for Arsenal to drive the price down so it seems Emery has moved on to other targets.
Everton Soares has also been linked with a move to the Emirates throughout the summer after starring for Brazil at the Copa America and Radio Grenal reported earlier this month that Arsenal chiefs had flown out to South America to try and thrash out a deal.
The Mirror claims Arsenal have now tabled a formal £36m offer for the Gremio winger and are keen to get a deal wrapped-up quickly but we could face competition from Napoli as they’re also keen to lure him to Italy.
We’ll have to wait and see how things develop over the coming days but Everton would be an exciting signing if we could pull it off as he’s developed into one of the hottest properties in South American football.

The 23-year-old provided 15 goals in his 31 appearances last season and can play anywhere across the attacking midfield positions so he’d give Emery plenty of options in the final third if we managed to lure him to the Emirates.
