Player set to fly-in for talks after Man Utd agree deal to sign £80m South American
Paulo Dybala is set to fly to the UK to finalise a move to Man Utd after the Red Devils agreed a swap deal that will see Romelu Lukaku join Juventus
We’re now at the business end of the summer transfer window and managers are working hard trying to strengthen their squads so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Here, Man Utd close-in on Paulo Dybala…
Paulo Dybala is set to fly to the UK to finalise a move to Manchester United after the Red Devils agreed a stunning swap deal that will see Romelu Lukaku join Juventus, according to the Independent.
Lukaku has been strongly tipped to leave United this summer and it initially looked as though he’d be heading to Inter Milan but the San Siro club have struggled to agree terms with Man Utd over a deal.
That opened the door for Juventus and Sky Sports News reported over the weekend that the Serie A giants were ready to use Dybala as bait to sign Lukaku ahead of their domestic rivals.
It looks like talks have progressed quickly as the Independent are one of several media outlets claiming that Manchester United and Juventus have now reached an agreement over a mega swap deal involving Dybala and Lukaku.
The newspaper says the move could be worth £80m with both players valued at around that figure by their respective clubs while the Daily Mail appear to support this valuation as they reported recently that Dybala was priced at between £70m-£90m.
The Independent says Dybala’s agents held talks with United chiefs in London on Tuesday to try and find an agreement over personal terms. It’s claimed the South American was initially reluctant to leave Juventus to play for a club in the Europa League but that changed after the Italians made it clear they wanted to sell him.
The newspaper says Dybala is now expected to fly to the UK to finalise his part of the move while Juve aren’t likely to have any problems agreeing terms with Lukaku as he’s made it clear all summer that he was keen on a move to Italy.
We’ll have to wait and see how things progress over the coming hours but no doubt United fans will feel they’re getting the better of the deal as Lukaku has been a divisive figure during his time at Old Trafford while Dybala is by far the more talented of the two players.
The Argentinean international has earned a reputation as one of the best forwards in Europe in recent years but he’s been marginalised at Juventus since Cristiano Ronaldo joined the club last summer.

Dybala’s influence has waned over the past 12 months as he managed to score just 5 goals last season and it looks as though he could now be set for a new challenge at Man Utd and I think he’d be a superb addition to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.
