Manchester United are on the verge of signing Mario Mandzukic after agreeing terms with the Juventus striker over a three-year contract worth £6.2m-per season, according to the Daily Mail.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is looking to revamp his attacking options before the window closes on Thursday night as Romelu Lukaku edges closer to the exit door and Mandzukic emerged as possible replacement late last week when Calcio Mercato reported United were in talks over a deal for the Juve hitman.
It appears the negotiations have proved to be successful as the Daily Mail claims Mandzukic’s move to Old Trafford is ‘virtually done’ after terms were agreed with the player over a three-year contract worth around £120,000-a-week [£6.2m a year].
The newspaper says a deal worth around £15m is on the verge of completion and Man Utd expect to finalise things over the coming days. All that remains is to determine whether it will be a straight cash deal or if Mandzukic will be included in a cash-plus-player swap deal involving Lukaku.
United have been locked in talks with Juventus over a potential swap deal involving Lukaku and Paulo Dybala but are struggling to agree terms with the Argentinean international. If that moves breaks down, then Juve may include Mandzukic as part exchange for Lukaku.
Either way it looks like the Croatian international is set for a move to Old Trafford this summer and he’ll replace Lukaku as Solskjaer’s target-man striker for the upcoming season once he complete his move to Juve.

Mandzukic has been a very effective striker over the years having enjoyed spells at Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid and Juventus so he’ll bring a lot of experience and quality to the United squad if he completes this proposed move before Thursday’s deadline.
