Arsenal got their Europa League group stage campaign off to the perfect start after easing to a 3-0 victory over 10-man Eintracht Frankfurt in Germany this evening.
It was a decent start to the game with both sides having chances to open the scoring but a combination of good goalkeeping and poor finishing meant we had to wait until the 38th minute for the deadlock to be broken.
After earlier missing a great chance to find the back of the net, Joe Willock was the man to find a way through and he needed a huge amount of good fortune as his shot on goal took a wicked deflection to loop over Kevin Trapp for 1-0 to Arsenal.
Dominik Kohr was sent off for Frankfurt in the 79th minute and Arsenal took full advantage of their extra man as we made it 2-0 six minutes later when Buyako Saka curled home a superb goal into the bottom corner from outside the area.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang then put the icing on the cake as he slotted past Trapp in the 87th minute to make it 3-0 to Arsenal after being released by the ever-impressive Saka.
The victory means Arsenal have already taken control of Group F with Standard Liege sitting second in the table after beating Vitoria S.C 2-0 in tonight’s other game.
