Betting tips and predictions for Liverpool vs Crystal Palace

This is a betting preview ahead of Liverpool’s Premier League clash with Crystal Palace

Liverpool can put one hand on the Premier League title with victory over Crystal Palace at Anfield on Wednesday night.

The Reds were storming their way to the title before football was suspended back in March after winning 27 of their first 29 league games and they can now focus on finishing the job after the three-month break ended last week.

Liverpool were back in action on Sunday but were held to a 0-0 draw by Everton at Goodison Park. That result has seen their lead at the top of the table cut to 20 points after Manchester City beat Burnley 5-0 on Monday night but obviously Liverpool are still in an unassailable position.

Jurgen Klopp’s men need just five points from their remaining eight Premier League games to secure their first league title in 30 years so victory over Crystal Palace tomorrow would put them within touching distance.

The Eagles head to Anfield sitting ninth in the table – level on points with Tottenham – after beating Bournemouth at the weekend and a shock win over Liverpool could see them climb to seventh and in with a shout of making a late charge for a Europa League qualification place.

Betting tips

Understandably, Liverpool are the heavy 1/4 favourites to win the game tomorrow night with the IL sports betting sites while the draw can be backed at 5/1. If you think Palace can pull off a shock, then you can get tasty odds of 13/1.

However, it’s unlikely Palace will get a result so backing Liverpool -1 goal on the Asian handicap market at odds of 4/5 looks a great bet. The Reds are more than capable of scoring at least 2-3 goals at Anfield and 3-0 at odds of 13/2 looks tempting.

Mohamed Salah is expected to return after missing the draw at Everton with a minor knock and the Egyptian is priced at 11/4 to open the scoring tomorrow. Ad Salah as first goal-scorer in a 3-0 and we can bag odds of 30/1.

Team news

Salah should return to the starting eleven after being an unused substitute at the weekend while Andrew Robertson is set for a recall at left-back after missing the draw at Everton with a muscle issue.

Joel Matip has been ruled out of tomorrow’s game with a toe injury and James Milner won’t feature after being forced off at Goodison Park with a hamstring problem. Xherdan Shaqiri remains out with a calf injury.

As for Palace, they’ll be without Hames Tomkins, Jeff Schlupp and Martin Kelly but otherwise Roy Hodgson has a fully-fit squad to choose from.

Prediction

Liverpool have stuttered of late as they’ve won just two of their last seven games in all competitions so that could give Palace come hope. However, the Reds remain formidable at Anfield in the Premier League as they’ve won their last 22 league games and are unbeaten in 55 matches on home soil – a run stretching back over three years.

Coincidentally, Palace were the last victors at Anfield in April 2017 but I don’t see a repeat tomorrow as Liverpool should ease to a relatively comfortable win – even without the passionate home support cheering them on. We predict a 3-0 win for Liverpool to put them within touching distance of securing the title.
