Premier League Most Expensive XI: The Latest Valuations

The English Premier League is a hub of exciting talents and some of the most valuable players on the planet. Some of the top players are highly sought-after by big football giants domestically and across Europe.

Virgil-van-Dijk-Liverpool-2018

There are lots of top talent at the moment, but you are perhaps wondering who are the best of the best. Well, let us look at some players who make the most expensive Premier League XI according to the latest market valuations.

Goalkeeper- Allison Becker (Liverpool)

The Brazilian shot-stopper has been a phenomenal signing for Liverpool since joining from AS Roma in 2018. In his debut season, his strings of saves alongside the brilliance of other teammates propelled Liverpool to the UEFA Champions League triumph. He has added the Premier League title to his CV in the 2019/2020 season. He also has the joint-most clean sheets alongside Nick Pope for the current campaign. His statistics make him one of the most valuable players in football, and he is currently ahead of David De Gea and Ederson, who are also the finest in the business.

Right-back- Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool)

Although there is stiff competition from other amazing right-backs like Aaron Wan Bissaka and Kyle Walker, Trent slots in as the most expensive right-back in the EPL. His crossing, defending, and intelligence make him a complete right-back, backed by amazing stats.  At his young age, he is one of the most expensive defenders in the market! It looks like there is more to come from the English international.

Center-back- Virgil Van Dijk (Liverpool)

Van Djik’s position in this team looks cemented for the next few seasons. He has established himself as the hottest EPL’s center back since joining from Southampton. He only came 2nd after Lionel Messi in the most recent Ballon d’Or pipping the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Salah. His stakes have surely risen after signing for £75m in 2018. His aerial dominance both defensively and offensively makes him a tough center-back to beat. No wonder he has helped convert Liverpool into the best team in the division!

Center-back- Aymeric Laporte (Manchester City)

Aymeric Laporte signed for Manchester City in 2018 and took no time to become a crucial element in the heart of the City’s defense. At 25, Laporte has a lot to unleash and will surely be a dominant force in the backline for some years. The composed defender is valued at around £68m but expects his valuation to upsurge. Major injuries have slowed down his momentum in the 2019/2020 season and will be hoping to turn things around in the next season.

Left-back- Andrew Robertson (Liverpool)

The Scotland captain eases into the left-back position owing to his immense contribution to Liverpool’s triumphs. His electric speed and accurate crossing makes him one of the best left-backs in the world. It is hard to imagine how a £8m signing from Hull City has shot to a valuation of over £70m!

Central Defensive Midfield – N’Golo Kante (Chelsea)

Nobody can doubt the qualities of the two-time EPL champion and World Cup winner N’Golo Kante. He is an industrious midfielder known with tireless runs, great passing, and a good eye for the goal. He starred for the title-winning Leicester City in 2015 and earned a move to Chelsea where his class helped Chelsea win the EPL title in his debut season. He has had a tough season marred by injuries, but he is still up there with the very best!

Central Defensive Midfield – Paul Pogba (Manchester United)

Paul Pogba has been a subject of criticism and transfer speculation for quite some time now at Manchester United. However, the talent of the France international is unquestionable. Although scores claim he hasn’t yet lived to his price tag at Manchester United, Paul Pogba has in several cases, single-handedly turned games around for his team. He was outstanding in the amazing Russia 2018 World Cup run and even scored a crucial goal in the finals of that tournament. The World Cup winner is still highly valued, but he still perhaps has a lot to offer.

Central Attacking Midfield- Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City)

The Manchester City attacking midfielder has been a joy to watch since joining from Germany. The 29-year-old has goals and assist tallies that eclipse even some of the great midfielders who ever graced the EPL. Although he is not much of a trick-star, his intelligence, passing, and shooting make him a modern attacking midfielder that stands a cut above the rest. He is currently valued as one of the most expensive footballers on the planet.

Right Winger – Mohammed Salah (Liverpool)

The 28-year-old Egyptian magician struck immediate comparison to Lionel Messi in his Liverpool debut season owing to his style of play. He has bagged plenty of goals and assists for Liverpool, and there is no sign of a dwindling star in Salah. He is a chief contender for the 2019/2020 golden boot race and has helped Liverpool to clinch the EPL crown for the first time in 30 years. Salah also spearheaded Liverpool to the UEFA Champions League finals in his debut season. They lost on that one but won in the following season.

Left Winger- Raheem Sterling (Manchester City)

Raheem Sterling is known for his splitting pace, which he integrates so perfectly with skill and intelligence. Goals have been free-flowing for the forward and he has not struggled to wade off competition considering the depth of Manchester City squad. His versatility makes him an important asset in Manchester City’s squad.  The 25-year-old is a regular name in the England national team and has attracted interests from elite clubs like Real Madrid.

Center Forward- Harry Kane (Tottenham)

Many would argue that Aguero is the best striker in the EPL, but owing to his age, we will place Harry Kane as the striker. The 26-year-old is a superb header and terrific long-range shooter. Many pundits feel the English talisman should look for greener pastures in bigger clubs to get more decorated with trophies. Nevertheless, Harry Kane is one of the most prolific strikers in world football, and it is easy to see why his valuation has risen over the years.

Wrap Up

The EPL’s most expensive XI will undoubtedly keep changing as a pool of rising talents is incredible. The best soccer league in the world has a lot in competition with the likes of Bruno Fernandes looking to join the list soon.
