United’s £18m Man Signs On For 3 Years
Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick has today signed a new contract to extend his current one by 3 years which will bring him up to the end of the 2013/14 season. Carrick joined the club from Spurs in 2006 and has played 218 times since then contributing with 17 goals. He has bagged himself plenty of medals since joining including 3 Premier League titles and 1 Champions league title.
Todays announcement will put to bed whispers that he is set to be axed by the club this summer and further backs up what we already know Fergie thinks of him. Carrick has had many critics over the last few years who have never been won over by his talents.
Alex Ferguson today was quoted as saying: “I am delighted Michael has signed a new contract. He has been outstanding since joining us from Tottenham Hotspur in 2006, he is a true professional and it’s great he has committed his future to the club.”
Michael Carrick added: “I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at this great club. There is fantastic team spirit within the squad and I’m pleased to have committed my future to United. We are in a very good position at the moment and I am confident this team will be successful for many years to come.”
Love him or loath him, he is here to stay!
