Betting preview: Liverpool odds-on favourites to get back on track by beating Fulham
Liverpool will be keen to get back to winning ways when they take on Fulham at Anfield on Sunday afternoon.
The Reds have endured a torrid campaign as they’ve relinquished their Premier League title without a fight following a string of poor results. Even at Anfield – where Liverpool went 68 games unbeaten – the Merseysiders have struggled as they saw that run end with five consecutive home defeats.
The latest loss came with a 1-0 defeat to Chelsea last week which has left Liverpool sitting seventh in the table – 22 points off leaders Man City and four adrift of the top four – so Jurgen Klopp’s side desperately need to get back to winning ways today.
The champions will be up against a Fulham side who are in the bottom three after losing to Tottenham last Thursday night but they can move level on points with 17th placed Brighton if they can secure a shock win at Anfield.
Betting odds
Liverpool are the 8/13 odds on favourites to win the game with Fulham priced at 5/1. The draw can be backed at 29/10 but despite Klopp expected to field a weakened team, the Reds should still have enough quality to get the three points.
A 1-0 victory for Liverpool can be backed at odds of 5/1 while 2-0 is available at 6/1. Mohamed Salah is expected to start in attack for the hosts and he’s a good bet to open the scoring at odds of 13/5.
Those who do want to bet on the game can just Pay N Play within minutes at many bookmakers but do plenty of research before choosing which betting company to gamble with.
Team news
Liverpool will continue to be without Virgil van Dijk, Joel Matip, Joe Gomez and Jordan Henderson due to long-term injuries.
Ozan Kabak is also a doubt for the game after picking up a knock last week while Roberto Firmino will need a late fitness test.
Klopp is expected to rest a number of players ahead of Wednesday night’s Champions League game with Leipzig so we could see the likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Fabinho, Thiago and Sadio Mane rested.
Fulham will be without Tom Cairney for the trip to Anfield as he’s still nursing a knee injury while Marek Rodak is a doubt with a wrist problem.
Prediction
Liverpool 1-0 Fulham: Liverpool have really struggled at Anfield lately as they’ve suffered five consecutive defeats without scoring a goal but this is a great opportunity for them to get back to winning ways. Fulham will be fighting for their lives as they need the points at the foot of the table but I expect Liverpool to edge it.
