Liverpool will be desperate for a win over Aston Villa this afternoon to move them back into the top four of the Premier League.

The Reds welcome the Villains to Anfield this weekend off the back of Tuesday night’s hugely disappointing 3-1 defeat to Real Madrid in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie.

Jurgen Klopp’s men will now need to turn things around in the second leg at Anfield next week if they want to reach the semi-finals but first they have to navigate a tricky league game with Aston Villa.

Liverpool famously lost the reverse fixture 7-2 at Villa Park earlier in the season so they’ll be out for revenge this afternoon and Klopp knows this is also a great opportunity for his side to get right back in the mix for the top four.

The defending champions head into the game sitting seventh in the table but they’re just three points off fourth-placed West Ham with a superior goal difference so victory today would move Liverpool back into fourth.

However, it certainly won’t be straightforward against a dangerous Villa side who sit five points behind Liverpool in 10th position so Klopp’s side will need to be fully focussed on this game if they want to collect all three points.

Liverpool favourites

Despite their inconsistent form at Anfield this season, Liverpool are still the 1/2 favourites at https://www.australianonlinecasinosites.com to win the game this afternoon.

Villa are priced at 11/2 to take home all three points from Anfield and that could be a tempting bet for those who think there will be an upset. Some fans may also think a draw is a possibility and you can back the draw at leroijohnny casino enligne at odds of 15/4.

However, we think Liverpool will have enough quality to get the job done and a 2-0 home win can be backed at 13/2. Diogo Jota looks a good bet to open the scoring at 4/1 and if we combine that bet with a 2-0 win, we get odds of 27/1.

Key men rested?

The one thing that could derail our bets is if Klopp decides to rest his key players ahead of the second leg with Madrid. Liverpool will need to win at least 2-0 to stand a chance of turning things around so the Reds boss may be tempted to give his star players a breather today.

However, the game against Villa is also vitally important as Liverpool are still hunting a top four finish so I don’t see Klopp making too many changes.

He may opt to rest Sadio Mane or Mohamed Salah as Roberto Firmino is expected to be recalled in attack but the hosts should still have enough firepower to get the job done at Anfield.
