Bookies have Lukaku as a better bet to score at Spurs than Kane

Without wishing to denigrate the quality of some of the teams in the top-flight, Saturday’s fixture list is nothing to write home about, with the big betting market for the weekend undoubtedly the London derby, reports Football Talk. Saturday sees several games which may good fillers for your bet slip – Liverpool and Manchester City at home to Crystal Place and Southampton respectively spring to mind – but the main dishes are held over to Sunday.

While West Ham at home to Manchester United is attractive, it’s merely a hors d’ouevre as Chelsea follow that by making the 10-mile trip – as the crow flies – to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to take on Nuno Espirito Santo’s side.

Perhaps just as pertinent to their strategy was Eric Dier going off in the first half with an injury which social media has described as leg, thigh, knee and ankle; suffice to say he did limp off.

The away side’s attacking intent was minimal after going down to ten-men and it appeared when rather than if Palace would score. Substitute Odsonne Edouard took full advantage of the space provided to him to score two of his own on his debut after Wilfried Zaha had opened the scoring from the penalty spot, as per Football – BBC Sport

And they’ll be facing a Chelsea team on Sunday that are unbeaten in the league, and a striker who has thrived on the service offered in a side full of attacking intent. Romelu Lukaku has three league goals in four games, and it appears when he starts on the pitch the odds on him adding to his tally grow shorter by the game. He is around evens to score at any time and 3/1 to score first.

The fact that Lukaku is shorter than Harry Kane to score in a match at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium should cause consternation for all Tottenham fans, but the England striker is 6/4 to score at any time and 9/2 to score first.

The match odds are indicative of a general lack of trust in Spurs from one week to the next, the home side as long as 7/2 to win; Chelsea are 3/4, and a more interesting bet may be on both teams scoring, available at 19/20. The players can bet online on a favorite at the British bookmaker.

One positive that Spurs may take from Chelsea’s 3-0 win over Aston Villa was the number of chances Villa created, with the Blues seemingly very lucky to go into the break leading. If Kane had been on the end of some of those chances at Stamford Bridge at the weekend then it may have been a very different game, but then Kane doesn’t play for Villa!
