Liverpool can move top of the Premier League with a win over Watford at Anfield on Saturday lunchtime. Liverpool will be looking to pick up where they left off before the international break. A run of wins since the turn of the year has seen the Merseysiders close the gap on leaders Manchester City to just one point with nine games remaining. Therefore, Klopp knows victory over Watford on home soil would see the Reds climb to the top of the table for the first time in 2022.
However, Watford head to Anfield also in desperate need of points, but for very different reasons. The Hornets are in a relegation fight as they sit 18th in the division and with 17th-placed Everton three points ahead with two games in hand, Watford need to pick up a positive result against Liverpool to boost their survival hopes.
Team news
Liverpool have been handed a major boost with the news that Trent Alexander-Arnold’s thigh injury isn’t as serious as first thought. Klopp feared the full-back would be out for several weeks but the England ace is already back in full training and could feature this weekend.
Andrew Robertson has also been passed fit after recovering from covid but Naby Keita remains a doubt with a knee injury that hampered him during the recent international break.
As for Watford, they’ll hope to welcome Jeremy Ngakia back from a thigh injury while Nicolas Nkoulou is also pushing for a recall.
Betting odds
Liverpool are the massive 2/15 odds on favourites to claim all three points at Anfield and you’d have to be brave to back against Klopp’s men this weekend. If you fancy a surprise result, the draw is available at 15/2 while you can back Watford to secure a shock win at odds of 19/1.
Mohamed Salah suffered heart ache again in midweek after missing a penalty as Egypt failed to qualify for the World Cup finals. However, the attacker is still going to be the main threat for Liverpool and you can bet on him to score first in a 3-0 win at odds of 20/1.
Prediction
Liverpool know this is a huge opportunity for them to go top of the table and put the pressure on Man City ahead of their trip to Burnley later in the day. We can’t see Klopp’s men passing it up.
The Reds should be far too strong for a struggling Watford side so we’re predicting Liverpool to ease to a comfortable victory at Anfield. Liverpool 3-0 Watford
