The best league’s throughout Europe promise to offer a real spectacle for football fans and it’s difficult to predict who will come out on top. In this article we look at seven teams to look out for this season and what we can expect from them.
1 – Manchester City
There is only one place to start and that is Manchester City, the reigning Premier League, European and FA Cup champions and they’ll be favourites to retain all three trophies this season. No KYC football betting fans have already started to give their predictions that Man City will win several competitions again this campaign. They’ve already added the European Super Cup to their trophy cabinet after beating Sevilla 5-4 on penalties after a 1-1 draw on Wednesday night.
Head coach Pep Guardiola insists the club are ambitious for more success this season and are determined to defend their titles. The squad celebrated their treble success over the summer but they are as hungry as ever to deliver more trophies for the fans.
2 – Paris Saint-Germain
PSG are not off to a good start in the domestic championship, but that doesn’t mean they won’t be looking to win the Ligue 1 title this campaign. It was recently revealed that their star striker Kylian Mbappé will stay at the club this season. He is expected to lead the team to new successes and be the focal point of Luis Enrique’s new-look team. Lionel Messi and Neymar have both left this summer so Mbappe is the main man now.
Traditionally, their main opponents, Marseille, will try to interrupt their title aspirations in France but the main aim of the PSG hierarchy is to make their mark in the Champions League this season.
3 – Bayern Munich
Bayern Munich won the Bundesliga in Germany in dramatic fashion last season, clinching the title on the last day after Borussia Dortmund drew at home. The Bavarians lost the German Super Cup to RB Leipzig earlier this month but Bayern are still the red-hot favourites to retain the title. They will face fierce opposition from the likes of Bayer Leverkusen, Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig, but Bayern are always the pre-season favourites and will be confident of winning the title again. They will also have aspirations to win the Champions League after signing Harry Kane from Tottenham in a £100m deal.
4 – RB Leipzig
RB Leipzig have a young and hungry squad that are looking to break Bayern Munich’s dominance in Germany. They thrashed Bayern in the German Super Cup and will hope that morale-boosting victory is a sign of things to come. Ambitious manager Marco Rose wants his team to compete both domestically and in Europe this season, so it will be interesting to see how Leipzig get on over the coming months.
5 – Napoli
Napoli stormed their way to a sensational Serie A title win last season and the pressure is now on to see how they defend their title this campaign. They begin the defence of the trophy away to Frosinone this weekend and everyone expecting a victory for the visitors. Napoli also want to make their mark in the Champions League and they will be one of the teams to avoid after such a dominant display in Italy last season. They are a team packed with quality and Napoli are certainly ones to look out for this season.
6 – Arsenal
Arsenal enjoyed a sensational 2022/23 campaign and at one stage it looked like they were going to win their first Premier League title since 2004. However, they imploded in April and Man City took full advantage to clinch their fifth title in six years. Mikel Arteta has vowed to make up for last seasons disappointment and win the title this year. The Gunners have spent over £200m to try and bridge the gap on City, with Declan Rice their marquee signing this summer.
Man Utd, Liverpool and Newcastle United will also be strong competition for Arsenal in the Premier League this season but the Gunners will hope to once again be Man City’s main rivals for the title. Arsenal will also return to the Champions League after a five year hiatus, so they’ll be wanting to make their mark in Europe as well.
7 – Manchester United
The Red Devils started the new Premier League season with a hard fought win over Wolves with Raphael Varane scoring the only goal of the game. However, the performance was disappointing so Erik ten Hag will be demanding big improvements from his players. Man Utd finished third last season and won the Carabao Cup so they will be looking to push on this season to challenge for major honours. United will hope to close the gap on Arsenal and Man City in the Premier League, while they’ll also want to be competitive in the Champions League having crashed out at the group stages last season.
