Liverpool Are Back After Last Season’s Reset

Liverpool narrowly missed out on what would have been an unprecedented quadruple in 2021/22. It was perhaps no surprise that Jürgen Klopp then went on to struggle in the subsequent season, too.

However, following that campaign to forget last term, the Reds seem to have hit the reset button and are now looking much more like their former selves, as they go in search of Premier League glory in 2024.

Last Season’s Dip Perhaps Necessary

After years of battling it out with Manchester City for silverware in England, Liverpool were due a below-par campaign. The Reds, who are currently 15/8 in the football odds to win the Premier League this season, finished down in fifth place last term and missed out on Champions League qualification.

Having finished 22 points behind winners Man City, who many football tips have as 4/5 favourites to retain the title this season, Liverpool have plenty of ground to make up on. Injuries didn’t help Liverpool’s cause last term and many of their key players struggled to reach the same form they had enjoyed the previous campaign.

Missing out on the Premier League title was one thing but it was a true shock for many to see Liverpool miss out on Champions League qualification as City, Arsenal, Manchester United and Newcastle United made the top four.

While pressure from the outside has been steadily building against manager Klopp, the German tactician’s future doesn’t seem to be in any doubt within the walls at Anfield. He’s enjoyed tremendous success since making the move to Merseyside back in 2015, and ultimately among the fans, there’s the feeling that Klopp remains the right man to turn things around.

Reds Ready For Title Push

Right in the thick of the title race, Liverpool currently looks ready to be in the hunt for a second Premier League crown in their history. The Reds put together some positive league form at the end of last season and they have been able to build on that foundation so far this term. Losing just one game in the first half of this Premier League season, the Reds proved to be a tough nut to crack heading into the new year.

While the Reds have been lauded for their attacking football over the years, much of their success has been built on a rock-solid defence. Those defensive traits abandoned them last season but it looks to be back at Liverpool, with Klopp’s side only conceding 18 goals in their first 20 league games of the campaign.

The likes of Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold have been impressive once again this season and have led from the front. Meanwhile, in attack, Mohamed Salah has rediscovered his own form, scoring 14 goals in his first 20 Premier League games of the campaign.

While there is still a long way to go in the Premier League title race, positive signs are coming from Anfield. As it stands, there are indications that Liverpool is ready to challenge for the English crown, as they look to deny Man City an unprecedented fourth-successive top-flight title.
