Redknapp To Quit, If Spurs Stars Leave
Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp has made it clear that he will quite his current job if the club happens to sell their star players in the transfer window.
The White Hart Laners’ chances of finishing fourth and taking the final Champions League spot for the second season in a row are in serious doubt following their disappointing 2-1 defeat despite taking the lead against Chelsea on Saturday.
That has led to fears that the club will need to be selling some of their star performers in order balance the books as they will miss out on a £30million windfall by not qualifying for the prestigious tournament of Europe.
The club’s star players that have been strongly linked with moves away from White Hart Lane include Gareth Bale, Luka Modric and Rafael Van der Vaart. And manager Harry Redknapp has claimed that there is no point in him continuing as the club’s manager if the club sell their best players:
If you start thinking about selling your best players you might as well give up. What’s the point in carrying on? It effectively sends out all the wrong signals.
And when one player leaves the rest want to follow him straight out the door. Then you have situation where the quality of football goes into decline and you’re going backwards on the pitch.
