Liverpool agree £130m deal to sign Newcastle’s Alexander Isak

Alexander Isak

Liverpool have finally agreed a British record £130m deal with Newcastle United to sign Alexander Isak on deadline day, as per Fabrizio Romano.

Sweden international Isak has given football one of the most infamous transfer sagas of recent years as he’s pushed for a move to Liverpool this summer.

Rememore new hair

The 25-year-old went public with his desire to leave St James’ Park and made it clear his Newcastle career was over due to ‘broken promises’.

After weeks of speculation, Romano has now reported that Newcastle have finally agreed on a £130 million fee to sell the former Real Sociedad man to Liverpool.

With an agreement on personal terms already in place, Isak is now travelling to Merseyside to complete his medical tests and formalise his transfer to Anfield before the window shuts at 5pm.

Liverpool are set to pay a significant transfer fee for the striker despite registering three wins in three league games to start their title defence. His transfer fee eclipses the £116 million they paid to sign Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen earlier this summer, making him the most expensive player in Premier League history.

Deal done

Newcastle had previously turned down an offer of over £100 million for the former Real Sociedad man due to their failure to land a replacement for his position.

They have since signed Germany international Nick Woltemade in a club-record deal, allowing them to revisit the transfer for Isak.

The highly sought-after striker will now join the likes of Hugo Ekitike and Wirtz to provide attacking depth for the Premier League champions.

Liverpool have agreed a deal to sign Isak but are not done with their business this summer just yet. The Reds continue to be strongly linked with Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi as they look to strengthen their backline before the window closes.

Arne Slot’s side are in talks with the FA Cup holders over a move for Guehi, having followed the Englishman for much of the summer.

With Ibrahima Konate having picked up an injury in their Matchday three clash against Arsenal, the Reds will try to accelerate talks for the 25-year-old.
