RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande has been the talk of the town for quite a few months, and with links with Premier League clubs strengthening as the summer transfer window draws closer, Liverpool and Manchester United are likely destinations for him.
Sports Boom has reported that the English rivals are set to go toe-to-toe for the youngster, who has been in fine form for the Bundesliga outfit this season, having scored 11 goals and provided eight assists in all competitions.
Diomande is valued at £65 million and could cost as much considering his exploits in recent months. Liverpool need more quality and depth on the wings but United are hoping to use Benjamin Sesko to mediate the deal involving his former teammate.
Liverpool could be favourites for Diomande
Irrespective of whether or not they qualify for next year’s Champions League, Liverpool are expected to be the strong favourites for Yan Diomande’s signing from RB Leipzig ahead of Manchester United.
Arne Slot’s side can offer him consistent game time in offence with Mohamed Salah leaving the club and Cody Gakpo struggling for form, but the same can’t be said about the Red Devils, who have Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo in their team.
Having made recent investments on their offensive department, it also remains to be seen if United are prepared to enter a bidding war with Liverpool for a player who will not come for cheap this year.
Liverpool will be massively bolstered by Diomande’s transfer. The 19-year-old is a superb long-term signing for them as his exceptional pace, intricate dribbling and creativity, coupled with fine finishing make him a well-rounded product.
Yan Diomande is very athletic and works hard without the ball too, and in his age group, it is fair to say that he is among the world’s best players. All things considered, his attributes promise to be a good match for the Reds’ tactical system as well.
