Chelsea could miss out on the Champions League next season and the consequence could be another major squad rebuild this summer, with the club expected to revamp its offensive department, as it has done in recent years too.
Graeme Bailey has reported that the Blues have been offered the chance to sign Paris Saint-Germain striker Goncalo Ramos. The Portuguese international is looking to leave the Ligue 1 side this summer and is open to moving to the Premier League.
As per Transfermarkt, the PSG star is valued at £30 million, with the club ready to sell him during the summer. He has struck 11 goals and provided two assists in all competitions this season but has largely played a secondary role under Luis Enrique.
Ramos an upgrade over Delap
Liam Delap has not delivered as per expectations since joining from Ipswich Town last summer and it is not ruled out that he departs Chelsea later this year in order to play regular football and reignite his career.
In the event that Delap is sold, Ramos would be a significant upgrade and a player the Londoners could potentially employ in their starting eleven on a regularly basis by moving Joao Pedro to the role of a left winger.
Ramos moves intelligently in the box to get himself into shooting positions, finishes his chances well and is an aerial threat as well. At 24, he has a reasonable amount of experience under his belt and has even won the Champions League.
Goncalo Ramos’ only drawback is his lack of pace, which is why he has not been a good fit at Paris Saint-Germain but his other characteristics in the final third make him an ideal candidate to lead the attack for one of the Premier League’s top sides.
