Salah returns to the line-up: Predicted Liverpool XI vs Manchester City
Liverpool are on the road in their first outing after the international break as they take on Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium tomorrow at 12:45 UK time in the quarter-final of the FA Cup.
Arne Slot’s men will emerge as one of the top contenders for the trophy if they are able to knock City out of the competition and secure a semi-final berth. As the squad attempts to do so, here is how the Liverpool starting eleven might look like.
Goalkeeper – With Alisson Becker injured, Giorgi Mamardashvili is expected to keep his place in goal for the visitors.
Defenders – Jeremie Frimpong is not in the best form and also picked up an injury on international duty, so Dominik Szoboszlai could deputise at right back instead of the Dutchman, while Milos Kerkez may be picked over Andy Robertson once more at left back. Ibrahima Konate and Virgil van Dijk could round off the back four for the Reds.
Salah returns on the right flank
Midfielders – Alexis Mac Allister and Ryan Gravenberch are expected to play together in an unchanged double pivot for Liverpool, while Florian Wirtz might also be given the nod as the number 10 after doing a decent job for Germany over the last week.
Meanwhile, Mohamed Salah could return to the fore having missed the last match against Brighton & Hove Albion with injury. The Egyptian is expected to play as the right winger with Cody Gakpo in contention to retain his place on the left flank.
Forward – Hugo Ekitike is expected to lead the line for Liverpool as Alexander Isak is still in the final stages of his recovery.
Here is how the away side is likely to look on paper.
