Man Utd battling with Chelsea & Tottenham to sign Thiago

Manchester United are reportedly battling with Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea over a deal to sign Brentford star Igor Thiago, as per Caught Offside.
After being impressed by the 25-year-old’s performances for Club Brugge, the Bees decided to purchase him a couple of years ago. However, he couldn’t serve his new club properly during his debut campaign due to a serious injury.
Having returned to full fitness, he showcased his goal-scoring prowess last campaign, scoring 25 goals and registering a solitary assist in 40 appearances across all competitions. After proving his worth in club football, Thiago secured his place in Brazil’s World Cup squad.
Now, TEAMtalk claim that Thiago’s recent eye-catching performances haven’t gone unnoticed as Man Utd, Chelsea and Tottenham have registered their interest in him through intermediaries, with the English clubs looking to bolster the frontline this summer.
Moreover, Bayern Munich have continued to monitor his progress closely. However, Brentford have no intention of letting him leave after recently tying him down to a fresh term until 2031.
The report state that Thiago isn’t even keen on leaving Gtech Community Stadium this summer as he believes he currently has the perfect platform to continue his development. As a result, Keith Andrews’ side are confident of keeping hold of him.
Thiago is a 6ft 3in tall right-footed striker. He is quick, strong, good in the air, can finish off his chances, is efficient at taking penalties and also works hard without possession.
Battle
After signing Danny Welbeck this summer, Chelsea currently have the Englishman plus Nicolas Jackson, Joao Pedro and Liam Delap as main striker options.
So, they don’t need to add further depth to this position unless anyone leaves, especially given that they won’t be playing European football next season.
On the other hand, with Richarlison’s existing deal set to expire at the end of next season, Tottenham could do with signing a new striker if he leaves this summer.
Man Utd, meanwhile, currently have Benjamin Sesko and Joshua Zirkzee as CF options. However, Zirkzee has been linked with a move away; as a result, it appears the Red Devils are exploring striker options.
Thiago is a Premier League-proven player and is currently at the prime stage of his career. So, he would be a shrewd acquisition for Man Utd, Tottenham or Chelsea should any of those clubs purchase him.
