Chelsea looking to sign Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott as Enzo Fernandez replacement

Chelsea star Enzo Fernandez is being linked with a move to Manchester City, who view the Argentine international as a suitable replacement for the Barcelona-linked Rodri with a £120 million transfer agreement possible between the English giants.
Given that they have also sold Andrey Santos to Manchester United this summer, a new midfielder’s addition would be vital for the Blues and after two lucrative sales, they would have enough money to spend on a replacement or two.
According to Graeme Bailey, Chelsea are keen on signing Alex Scott from Bournemouth. The Cherries already rejected a bid from the Londoners a few weeks ago but there is belief that an £80 million deal could be done for the 22-year-old this summer.
Bailey has added that Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton is seen as an alternative to Scott but Chelsea have made the Bournemouth star their priority and are optimistic about securing a transfer for him rather than turn to another option on their list.
Important signing for Chelsea
With Chelsea playing only in the domestic cups and the Premier League next season, they can afford to bring in just one midfielder to play beside Moises Caicedo as Morgan Rogers might play in an advanced position.
That said, Alex Scott promises to be an excellent acquisition for the Blues. The Englishman is tactically intelligent, drives the ball forward with intent, is press resistant and has a strong passing range to distribute the ball from deep.
Scott also works hard without the ball as he extensively covers the pitch and uses his physique to win duels against his opponents. His energy and stamina allow him to press higher up the pitch with good effect too, making him an all-rounder in midfield.
Xabi Alonso is set to oversee his first official outing for Chelsea in less than 10 days and it will be interesting to see what comes of Enzo Fernandez’s future at the club, which would have a huge bearing on the Blues’ quest for a new midfielder.
