Tottenham plotting swoop to sign Nicolas Jackson

Tottenham Hotspur are keeping tabs on Chelsea centre-forward Nicolas Jackson ahead of a possible summer swoop, according to Fabrice Hawkins.
Jackson has endured a topsy-turvy campaign at Chelsea since arriving from Villarreal in the summer of 2023. He impressed in his first preseason, but his goalscoring prowess was not translated in the league, which led to massive fan backlash.
Despite the constant match-costing and glaring misses, his overall link-up play and ability to glide past challenges were a potent weapon against high-pressing opponents and low blocks, which is why he remained a constant in the starting lineup.
He went on to finish his first full campaign with the Blues with 14 Premier League goals and 17 in all competitions. The following season, he netted ten league goals and three in the Conference League, including in the final.
However, following the arrival of Joao Pedro from Brighton & Hove Albion and Liam Delap from Ipswich Town, Jackson was dropped to third choice in the pecking order, leading to his departure to Bayern Munich on loan, where he scored 11 goals.
Despite returning for pre-season, Jackson was left out of Chelsea’s last pre-season game, suggesting a departure could occur and prompting interest from several clubs.
One of the clubs looking to sign Jackson is Tottenham, according to Fabrice Hawkins, who claims that the north London club are closely monitoring the 6ft 1in centre-forward ahead of a potential summer swoop.
Jackson to Tottenham
With a lengthy seven-year contract at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea will look to recoup a significant sum from his sale, and it’s no surprise the French journalist adds that Chelsea have placed a £60m valuation on the 25-year-old.
However, Tottenham are not alone in the race for Jackson, with Hawkins adding that Atletico Madrid and Aston Villa are also keeping tabs on the Senegalese international.
Jackson may have come under scrutiny for missing several chances, but the statistics show he offers much more than just scoring.
His creativity, ball carrying and link-up play are among the best in the league. It is also important to note that since leaving Villarreal, the Senegalese centre-forward has reached double digits in goals alone.
Another key quality is his availability. Given Dominic Solanke’s injury woes since joining Tottenham, Jackson’s availability would ensure the North London club retains an attacking threat whenever the Englishman is injured.
With 57 goal contributions in his last three seasons, Jackson would be a good option for Roberto De Zerbi’s attack, but whether the club are willing to meet Chelsea’s £60m valuation remains to be seen.
