Manchester United could reportedly make an attempt to sign AFC Bournemouth star Adrien Truffert, as per the Express.
Following Milos Kerkez’s move to Liverpool, the Cherries decided to reinforce the left-back position by purchasing the Frenchman from Stade Rennais last summer.
The 24-year-old enjoyed a promising debut campaign in the Premier League, scoring a solitary goal and registering five assists in 38 appearances.
Moreover, he helped his side keep 11 clean sheets last term. Truffert even helped his side qualify for this season’s Europa League.
Now, the Express report that Luke Shaw is set to turn 32 next year and his existing deal is set to expire at the end of this season, so Man Utd are considering signing a new left-back and have identified Lewis Hall as the top target.
However, Newcastle United have no intention of parting ways with him this summer, with his existing deal set to run until 2029. United need to launch a formal proposal worth more than £60m to tempt the Magpies to let him leave.
So, Man Utd could shift focus to cheaper and more attainable options like Truffert. Having recently joined Bournemouth, the defender still has a contract until 2030, but Marco Rose’s side might be open to letting him leave this summer for a fee of around £40m.
Truffert is a left-footed, attack-minded left-back. He is quick, technically sound, can play out from the back and is efficient in dribbling past opposition defenders in tight areas.

Moreover, he can deliver excellent crosses from the flanks and is efficient in defensive contributions. Truffert is a talented player and isn’t a finished article yet.
Therefore, he might be a shrewd acquisition for Man Utd should they purchase him. However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the Old Trafford club eventually make a concrete approach to secure his services between now and the end of this transfer window.
Meanwhile, Man Utd have purchased Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans thus far this summer, but they need to add more firepower to the squad to challenge on all fronts this season. However, time is running out as the transfer window is set to slam shut in just two weeks.
