Everton pushing hard to sign Chelsea’s Liam Delap

Everton are reportedly pushing hard to sign Chelsea forward Liam Delap, as per TEAMtalk.
After joining Ipswich Town from Manchester City a couple of years ago, the 23-year-old showed glimpses of his qualities in the Premier League, although he failed to help his side avoid relegation.
In 40 appearances across all competitions, the forward scored 12 goals and registered two assists during the 2024/25 campaign. Having been impressed by his performances, the Blues decided to purchase him last summer.
However, Delap endured a dire campaign last term, scoring only twice in 41 matches in all tournaments. So, TEAMtalk state that Chelsea are open to cashing in on him this summer, although his existing deal is set to run until 2031.
The West London club want around £40m, and the player is ready to leave to play regularly. Everton are pushing hard to sign the Englishman and have held conversations over this deal.
Although Nottingham Forest, Newcastle United and Aston Villa have also held talks over Delap’s situation, Everton have been leading the race.
However, the report state that Leeds United have also expressed their interest in him and have made contact over the possibility of securing his services this summer.
Como previously made a move for Delap, but he has rejected the proposal as he wants to stay in the Premier League and is eager to return to the north.
Delap to Everton
Delap is a 6ft 2in tall striker. He is quick, strong, good in the air, and works hard without possession. However, the Chelsea forward has disciplinary issues and has a tendency to pick up unnecessary cards.
Everton currently have Thierno Barry and Beto as striker options. However, the Frenchman displayed below-average performances in his debut Premier League campaign after joining from Villarreal last summer.
On the other hand, Beto has struggled with consistency since joining from Udinese. With his existing deal set to run until next summer, his long-term future is currently uncertain at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
Delap is a talented player and is still very young. He even possesses the necessary physical attributes to flourish in David Moyes’ system. So, he might be a shrewd acquisition for Everton should they purchase him.
