Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly ‘pushing’ hard to sign Liverpool forward Cody Gakpo, as per talkSPORT journalist Alex Crook.
The 27-year-old came into the spotlight having displayed impressive performances for PSV Eindhoven. During the 2021/22 season, he made 34 goal contributions across all competitions.
The forward even enjoyed an impressive first half of the 2022/23 campaign, scoring 13 goals and registering 16 assists in all tournaments. After being impressed by his performances, Liverpool decided to purchase him in 2023.
The Dutchman has won a Premier League title and an EFL Cup at Anfield in recent years. He has even enjoyed a promising start to this season, netting against Newcastle United in the opening Premier League fixture.
Now, on X, Crook reports that Tottenham are interested in Gakpo and are ‘pushing’ hard to sign him despite already purchasing Savinho and Omar Marmoush.
Manchester City are unlikely to make a move for the 27-year-old, while Liverpool remain in talks with Paris Saint-Germain over a deal for Bradley Barcola to bolster the left flank. The Reds are likely to finalise the operation before the end of this transfer window.
Crook wrote:
“Tottenham still pushing to sign Cody Gakpo. Understand a move to Man City unlikely at this stage. Liverpool remain in talks with PSG for Bradley Barcola. French sources suggesting that one is more likely than unlikely between now and the transfer deadline.”

The Lilywhites endured a dire campaign last term; as a result, they have prioritised rebuilding the squad under Roberto De Zerbi’s guidance this summer.
Initially, they revamped the backline by signing Andrew Robertson, Marcos Senesi and Jan Paul van Hecke before signing Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali to strengthen the midfield department.
They have even signed Martin Dubravka to support Antonin Kinsky after letting Guglielmo Vicario join Juventus on loan. Now, during the final few days of this transfer window, Spurs have focused on upgrading the attack.
Gakpo, valued at around £51m by Transfermarkt, is a Premier League-proven left winger and is currently at the prime stage of his career. Therefore, he might be a shrewd acquisition for Tottenham should they eventually manage to secure his services.
