Manchester United have been offered the opportunity to sign Atletico Madrid striker Alexander Sorloth before the transfer deadline, according to Caught Offside.
The Red Devils have primarily focused on their midfield department this summer. They have brought in Andrey Santos, Youri Tielemans and Carlos Baleba along with goalkeeper Karl Darlow.
Man United are still in the transfer market for more signings and Caught Offside claim that Sorloth has been offered to the Mancunian giants through intermediaries. They have yet to respond.
Michael Carrick’s side have still not ruled out a move for the 30-year-old, who is valued at £30 million.

The Norwegian has shown drastic improvement during the prime phase of his playing career. He was deemed a flop at Crystal Palace with just 1 goal in 20 appearances, but has flourished since leaving the Premier League in 2020.
Sorloth had another solid campaign with Atletico Madrid last term. He netted an impressive 20 goals across all competitions for Diego Simeone’s side. Despite this, he continues to be linked with a possible exit before the window closes.
The 30-year-old is not actively pursuing an exit but intermediaries have informed United and other clubs that a deal could be done for £30 million. Sorloth has attributes to suit the Premier League such as his aerial and physical presence in the box.
He has also extensively improved his finishing with his lethal left foot, but we doubt whether United will consider an approach, given Sorloth’s past experience in England. He will turn 31 in December and £30m represents a big outlay.
Instead of him, United could be better off pursuing a deal for Crystal Palace’s Jean-Philippe Mateta, who has been a consistent performer in the English top-flight and has netted 42 league goals over the past three campaigns.
The Frenchman, currently out with a hamstring injury, is actively pushing for an exit after entering the last year of his contract. Having just turned 29, Mateta is a more value-for-money signing than Sorloth and also has a good track record of scoring goals in the division.
Villa failed with an opening offer worth £20 million for the World Cup semi-finalist earlier this month. United have also been mentioned as suitors, and they would be better off spending £30 million to bring Mateta to Old Trafford.
United could have a void to fill soon with Fiorentina pushing to sign striker Joshua Zirkzee.
