Palmer, Rogers and Pedro return: Predicted Chelsea XI vs Hull City

Just days after an emphatic comeback versus Leeds United in the Carabao Cup, Chelsea turn their attention towards the Premier League as they eye a third win in the English top-flight in their second match at Stamford Bridge.

Xabi Alonso’s men host Hull City on matchday four at 15:00 local time on Saturday, and despite their decent form so far, they will need to put their best foot forward against the newly-promoted side, who is unbeaten so far in the league.

Having said that, here is the playing eleven the hosts are likely to employ for the fixture.

Goalkeeper – Emiliano Martinez is expected to come back in goal for the Blues as Mike Penders’ expense.

Defenders – A three-man backline has been one of Chelsea’s key tactical tweaks this season and is unlikely to be altered against Hull City. While Levi Colwill and Maxence Lacroix are both expected to keep their places from the Leeds United success, Josh Acheampong could drop out, making way for Wesley Fofana to return to the line-up.

In-form attacking trident back in the eleven

Midfielders – Moises Caicedo might not be fully fit against Hull City, so Chelsea could employ Romeo Lavia and Reece James in the double pivot in central midfield. Pedro Neto, who has also been playing well under Xabi Alonso so far this season, could play as the right wing-back with Jorrel Hato expected to feature on the left side of midfield.

Forward – Cole Palmer kickstarted the excellent comeback against Leeds United with a brace off the bench but is expected to be back in the starting eleven this time around on the right flank, whereas Morgan Rogers, who assisted four times in the Carabao Cup, is the favourite to get the nod on the left wing.

Joao Pedro is expected to round off Chelsea’s starting eleven by leading the line for them.
