Tottenham Hotspur have joined the race to sign Sporting CP winger Geny Catamo, according to Record via Sport Witness.
Catamo is the latest success story on Sporting’s ever-growing list of exciting talents emerging from the club’s youth-driven recruitment model, and he will likely be sold for a fee well above his £21m Transfermarkt valuation amid keen interest from clubs.
The youngster began his career in his native country with Mozambican side Black Bulls before moving to Europe to join Amora in the Portuguese division.
His performances there soon caught Sporting’s attention, and they brought him to their academy in 2019, initially on loan, before the deal became permanent in the summer of 2020.
The exciting forward took no time to settle and quickly impressed both at the academy and during loan spells with Vitória Guimarães and Marítimo.
Since breaking into the first team in the 2023-24 season, Catamo has established himself as one of the best attacking prospects, providing 41 goal contributions in over 100 appearances and playing an influential role in helping the club win two Primeira Liga titles and one Portuguese Cup.
The 25-year-old, described as ‘very special’ by his national teammate Pepo, has begun the 2026-27 season in rapid form, already providing five goal involvements in just seven games, piquing the interest of several clubs.

Citing Record, Sport Witness reveals that Tottenham are among the clubs looking to sign Catamo and have now joined the race for the youngster.
However, the north Londoners face stern competition for the Mozambique international from Como, Sunderland and clubs in the Saudi Pro League, according to the report.
While Tottenham’s interest is confirmed, the report does not indicate whether they have made formal enquiries about the winger’s possible transfer, so it’ll be interesting to see how it plays out ahead of the winter transfer window.
Despite bolstering their attack in the summer with big money moves for Savinho and Omar Marmoush, Tottenham remain one of only two teams yet to score a goal this season.
Following the 0-0 draw with Everton last Saturday, Spurs have now failed to score across the opening four matches of a league campaign for the first time. It is also the first time since August/September 2006 they have gone four games in a row without finding the back of the net.
Tottenham’s biggest test of the season yet will be in the League Cup when they travel to Anfield to face Liverpool in the third round of the competition on Tuesday night.
