Tottenham have reportedly set their sights on signing Nottingham Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White, as per Football Insider.
Although the Lilywhites finished 17th in the Premier League under Ange Postecoglou during the 2024/25 campaign, they never found themselves in a relegation scrap.
However, Spurs genuinely battled for survival last term and ultimately managed to retain their top-flight status by beating Everton 1-0 on the final day. They finished 17th once again with 41 points.
As a result, Tottenham decided to splash a huge amount of money this summer to rebuild the squad and hand Roberto De Zerbi the necessary tools to achieve success this season.
However, the North London club have endured a dire start this season. They haven’t been able to win any Premier League game thus far, languishing at the bottom of the table with only two points in five games.
On the other hand, following a disappointing 3-1 defeat to Liverpool last week, Tottenham have been knocked out of the Carabao Cup.
So, it appears Spurs have already started exploring options to add more firepower to the squad in January to help De Zerbi turn the situation around.
Gibbs-White to Tottenham
Football Insider state that Tottenham have set their sights on signing Gibbs-White and could make a concrete approach to secure his services in mid-season.
Spurs hold a long-standing interest in the Englishman as they initially attempted to buy him last year, but Nottingham Forest refused to let him leave.
However, having been impressed by his recent development, the Lilywhites remain keen on signing him.
Gibbs-White is valued at around £60m by Transfermarkt and has entered the final two years of his current contract. So, it remains to be seen whether the Tricky Trees decide to sell him in mid-season.
Gibbs-White is a creative midfielder by trait but is also efficient in the box-to-box role. Furthermore, he can provide cover on the flanks if needed. After being impressed by him, Thomas Tuchel has selected him in the England squad for the upcoming international fixtures.
He is a Premier League-proven player and is currently at the prime stage of his career. Therefore, Gibbs-White would be a great coup for Tottenham should they purchase him.
