Manchester United considering swoop for Leeds United forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin

Manchester United have made a terrible start to the 2026/27 season as they find themselves with only one Premier League win in five outings heading into the international break, and having been knocked out of the Carabao Cup.

While performances have been underwhelming recent suggestions don’t indicate Michael Carrick’s job is in danger and on the contrary, the Red Devils are already planning to back him in the January transfer window with further reinforcements.

Football Insider has reported that Manchester United are now interested in signing Leeds United striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who is one of the Premier League’s most seasoned strikers around and has scored three times already so far this season.

He is valued at £19 million on Transfermarkt but at the age of 29, Leeds United will look to make more out of his possible sale next year despite Football Insider insisting that the club does not plan on selling him and has him firmly within its plans.

Calvert-Lewin a top signing

Leeds United are currently fifth and unbeaten in the Premier League, so it comes as no surprise that the want to hold onto their chief marksman next year but a major turn of form could change things for Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

The English international promises to be an excellent signing for Manchester United. His aerial prowess, intelligent movement in the box and clinical finishing, coupled with excellent work-rate out of possession would make him a key player in their line-up.

Calvert-Lewin could push to join Man United in January if they are on track to progress in the Champions League as having spent some time at Everton and Leeds, the forward would view a move to Old Trafford as a career highlight in his prime years.

Benjamin Sesko has not offered much quality or consistency up top this season, while Matheus Cunha has been more useful from the left wing rather than the centre. Therefore, all things point towards Man United signing a number nine sooner rather than later.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin promises to be an excellent addition and there is every reason to believe the Red Devils can sign him next year despite Leeds United’s initial hesitance in letting him depart.
