Liverpool and Arsenal are reportedly showing the keenest interest in signing Brentford forward Kevin Schade, as per Sky Sports.
Following Mohamed Salah’s departure as a free agent, the Reds decided to reinforce the flanks by purchasing Bradley Barcola and Victor Muñoz this summer.
As a result, Andoni Iraola currently has the duo plus Cody Gakpo, Rio Ngumoha and Federico Chiesa as specialist wingers. However, the Italian has struggled to find his feet in the Premier League since joining from Juventus and has been out injured in recent weeks.
On the other hand, Ngumoha is still very young and needs time to develop. As a result, Liverpool are seemingly considering signing a new winger next year.
Now, Sky Sports report that the Merseyside club have registered their interest in Schade and have been keeping a close eye on his situation before making a potential swoop.
Apart from the Reds, Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur have also been monitoring his development, but Liverpool and the Gunners are showing the keenest interest in sealing the deal.
With the 24-year-old’s existing deal set to run until 2028, Brentford don’t want to part ways with him and have already started holding talks to tie him down to a fresh contract.
Battle
Schade is a right-footed versatile forward as he is comfortable in the left-wing and centre-forward positions. He is quick, can finish off his chances and also works hard without possession.
The forward has enjoyed a promising start this season, scoring three goals in five Premier League appearances. Having proven his worth in the English top-flight, he has secured his place in Jurgen Klopp’s Germany national team.
After letting Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard leave, Arsenal were said to be planning to sign two left-wingers this summer but only purchased Christos Tzolis.
So, it appears the North London club are considering signing a new forward. Schade is a Premier League-proven player and is currently at the prime stage of his career.
Therefore, he, valued at around £30m by Transfermarkt, would be a shrewd acquisition for Arsenal or Liverpool should either club purchase him. However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club or the Merseyside club eventually manage to secure his services.
