Chelsea and Arsenal are showing keen interest in signing Como defender Jacobo Ramon, as per Spanish outlet AS.
The Blues decided to reinforce the backline by purchasing Maxence Lacroix this summer. As a result, Xabi Alonso currently has the Frenchman plus Wesley Fofana, Josh Acheampong, Levi Colwill and Jorrel Hato as centre-back options.
Moreover, Aaron Anselmino can provide cover in this position if needed. Still, Chelsea have struggled with defensive frailties this season, leaking 15 goals in seven matches across all competitions.
Alonso’s side have conceded the most goals in the Premier League thus far this term. After winning the first two league games, they have accumulated only one point from the last three matches before the international break.
As a result, it appears the Blues are considering signing a new centre-back next year, and AS report that Chelsea have expressed their interest in Ramon.
Apart from the West London club, Arsenal are also showing keen interest in buying him. However, the youngster is currently focusing on playing regularly and developing his career at Como.
The Spaniard moved to the Studio Giuseppe Sinigaglia from Real Madrid last year, and Los Blancos hold a 50% sell-on clause. Moreover, they hold a buyback option and explored the possibility of re-signing him this summer.

However, he refused to join the Spanish giants to play as a rotational option. Ramon is valued at around £39m by Transfermarkt and still has a contract until 2030. So, Cesc Fábregas’ side aren’t in any rush to sell him.
Ramon is a 6ft 5in tall right-footed technically gifted defender. He is composed with possession, good in the air, and is efficient in defensive contributions.
Following William Saliba’s recent injury, Arsenal decided to reinforce the backline by signing Ezri Konsa this summer. So, the Gunners don’t need a new centre-back.
However, Ramon is a talented player and possesses high potential. Therefore, he would be a shrewd acquisition for Arsenal or Chelsea should either club purchase him.
It is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club or the Merseyside club eventually make a concrete approach to secure his services.
