Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in signing Eintracht Frankfurt forward Younes Ebnoutalib, as per TEAMtalk.
After being impressed by the 23-year-old’s performances for SV 07 Elversberg in the 2. Bundesliga, the Eagles decided to purchase him in January.
Initially, he struggled to showcase his best at the Deutsche Bank Park due to injury problems before displaying impressive performances this campaign.
In five appearances across all competitions, Ebnoutalib has netted five times and registered two assists. He even scored a hat-trick against Union Berlin in the opening league game of this season.
The youngster’s recent performances have attracted Jurgen Klopp’s attention, and the German boss has selected him in the national squad for the September/October international fixtures.
Now, TEAMtalk claim that Tottenham have expressed their interest in signing Ebnoutalib after being impressed by his recent development and could make a formal approach next year.
However, the Lilywhites will have to overcome stiff competition to seal the deal as Brighton and Hove Albion and Everton have been monitoring his development closely before making a potential swoop.
Ebnoutalib to Tottenham
Ebnoutalib is a 6ft 3in tall right-footed striker and still has a contract until 2031. So, Frankfurt are in a strong position to demand a sizable amount of money if they are forced to cash-in.
He is quick, strong, good in the air, can link up the play and possesses the poacher’s instinct inside the box. Moreover, he works hard without possession.
Having endured a dire campaign over the last two seasons, Tottenham decided to reinforce the striker position by signing Omar Marmoush this summer.
However, the Egyptian has started the new season poorly. Moreover, Roberto De Zerbi currently has Dominic Solanke and Richarlison as striker options.
But De Zerbi has made it clear that the Brazilian won’t play anymore this season, while Solanke has struggled to showcase his best since joining Spurs from AFC Bournemouth.
Therefore, Tottenham could do with signing a new striker, and Ebnoutalib would be a shrewd acquisition if he continues to impress over the coming months.
However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually make a concrete approach to secure the Frankfurt star’s services in January or next summer.
