Arsenal exploring move for Fulham forward Gonzalo Garcia

Arsenal are closely monitoring Fulham centre-forward Gonzalo Garcia ahead of a potential swoop to the Emirates Stadium, according to 442, as relayed by TEAMtalk.

The 22-year-old, described as ‘spectacular’ by Federico Valverde, piqued the interest of former Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti, who brought him to the first-team fold following his remarkable goal-scoring prowess at Madrid Castilla, where he provided 46 goal contributions.

He made his debut in November 2023, and just three months and three games later, he recorded his first goal for the club in remarkable fashion, netting the winning goal in the 3-2 Copa del Rey win over Leganés.

Following the arrival of Xabi Alonso the following season, Garcia shut down any suggestion of a loan move with an impeccable showing at the FIFA Club World Cup tournament in 2025, where he provided five goal involvements in six games for Madrid and also clinched the top scorer award.

However, the Spaniard struggled for playing time in the full season, as Alonso and interim boss Alvaro Arbeloa needed to accommodate Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Jr upfront, thereby reducing his role.

Garcia joined Fulham in the recently concluded transfer window, and despite netting just two goals, he has been one of the best players for the Cottagers, who have been struggling so far this season.

According to German outlet 442, as cited by TEAMtalk, Garcia’s dynamism and goalscoring ability have piqued the interest of the North London club, who are now keeping close tabs on him.

‘Spectacular’ forward

Having only signed for Fulham on a six-year contract, a deal will not be easy, as the report claims that the Gunners will need to pay a fee between £51 and £59m to price the centre-forward away from Craven Cottage.

However, Arsenal are set to face stern competition from European giants Real Madrid, who inserted a buy-back clause in the agreement with Fulham, while Premier League rivals Aston Villa are also closely monitoring the Spanish centre-forward, according to the report.

The Gunners were keen on bolstering their frontline last summer but ended the transfer window, bringing in only Christos Tzolis from Club Brugge in a Jupiler Pro League record deal.

Five games into the season, however, the decision not to bring in more attackers appears to be backfiring, as Viktor Gyökeres has largely struggled throughout the campaign.

More worrying is that the club could be heading into the clash against Leeds United without Kai Havertz upfront following his injury while on international duty with Germany

As a result, bringing in a natural centre-forward like Garcia, whose dynamism suits Arteta’s system, would be ideal to address the club’s attacking frailties.
