Liverpool enter race to sign Brentford star Michael Kayode

According to Caught Offside, Liverpool have the upper hand over Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur in the pursuit of Brentford right-back Michael Kayode.
Kayode has established himself as one of the best right-backs in the Premier League and he recently made his international debut for Italy under new manager Roberto Mancini.
His stock has risen steadily during his time at the Bees and Caught Offside claim that Liverpool have placed him ‘at the top of their watchlist’ as they seek to strengthen the right-back department.
No official bid has been submitted to the Bees thus far, but the Reds are said to be leading the race in monitoring the Italy international ahead of Arsenal and Spurs, as things stand.
A winter exit is unlikely but Brentford could consider his sale in the summer. It is claimed that the Bees could demand between £51 million and £55 million for the former Fiorentina ace.
Huge potential
Kayode first built his reputation with Fiorentina in Serie A. He was linked with some of the Premier League’s biggest clubs before he joined Brentford on loan in January 2025. The Bees triggered the option to buy him in May last year.
The Italian had a fantastic second season with 44 appearances, and he has already made seven during the ongoing campaign. Kayode is an energetic right-back with a tireless work rate and has also excelled with his duel-winning ability.
He has likewise impressed with his tackling and recovery pace. Hence, he has all the attributes to become a leading right-back in the long run. Liverpool may want to bring him to Anfield with the lack of sufficient quality in the right-back spot.
Jeremie Frimpong has looked defensively vulnerable as a right-back since his move from Bayer Leverkusen. Conor Bradley has fared decently in the role, but it is uncertain how he could fare on his return from a serious knee injury.
Reds manager Andoni Iraola has utilised summer signing Ronald Araujo as a makeshift right-back, but may ideally want a specialist, who can make the position his own. Kayode has the credentials to become an undisputed starter.
Arsenal could be Liverpool’s main threat in the player’s pursuit next summer. There is continuous speculation that Ben White could be sold next year, and Kayode could be seen as a marquee right-back addition for the Gunners.
