Liverpool ready to sign Rayan Cherki if Manchester City face severe sanctions
Manchester City have been found guilty of 114 charges over the international break and some severe sanctions could follow in the near future, putting the continuity of their best players at the Etihad Stadium at a major risk.
Numerous sides from Europe as well as within the Premier League are believed to be pondering over how they can raid the Citizens and Liverpool are one of them having identified several areas of improvement in their squad.
According to TEAMtalk, the Reds would be willing to sign Rayan Cherki from the Sky Blues if their sanctions force them to do so having been impressed by his start to the season and the overall impact on City’s creativity up top.
He is valued at £93 million on Transfermarkt and has a contract with the Mancunians until 2031, but how much his asking price will be in the event of Man City facing punishments has yet to be determined.
Superb potential signing for Liverpool
If Liverpool are successful in their pursuit of Rayan Cherki, they would have secured the services of an excellent player and somebody who can be a like-for-like replacement for Mohamed Salah, following Bradley Barcola’s purchase earlier this year.
Despite naturally being an attacking midfielder, Cherki is capable of playing down the right wing. His excellent dribbling, ability to beat multiple defenders, close control, high chance creation volume and finishing make him very productive in the final third.
Cherki is already experienced in the Premier League and has played a decent number of games in the Champions League with Manchester City and Olympique Lyon, so he has the necessary credentials to be a success at Liverpool.
The 23-year-old also promises to be a brilliant long-term addition at Anfield, but there is expected to be strong competition for Rayan Cherki if he is available for sale, so Liverpool will not find it easy to secure his services even if City are sanctioned.
