Man Utd battling with Liverpool & Chelsea to sign Murillo

Manchester United are reportedly battling with Chelsea and Liverpool over a deal to sign Nottingham Forest defender Murillo, as per TEAMtalk.
The Red Devils currently have Lisandro Martínez and Ayden Heaven as specialist left centre-back options. Moreover, Harry Maguire can provide cover in this area if needed.
However, Martínez has had numerous fitness problems over the years and has entered the final year of his current contract. On the other hand, Heaven is still very young and needs time to develop.
Maguire, meanwhile, has also had injury issues in recent years and has entered the final few months of his existing deal. So, the Old Trafford club have seemingly started exploring options to strengthen the LCB.
Now, TEAMtalk claim that Man Utd hold genuine interest in signing Murillo as they want to replace Martínez. However, the Red Devils will have to overcome several obstacles to seal the deal as Liverpool and Chelsea hold a long-standing interest in him.
With Virgil Van Dijk coming towards the twilight of his career and his existing deal set to run until next summer, the Reds want a new LCB to replace the Dutchman.
On the other hand, Nottingham Forest aren’t in any rush to sell him, having recently tied him down to a fresh term until 2030. The Tricky Trees’ owner Evangelos Marinakis likes to play hardball to sell big assets and wants up to £80m if they are forced to cash-in on the Brazilian.
Battle
The 24-year-old is a left-footed centre-back but is also comfortable in the left-back position. He is quick, strong, good in the air, comfortable playing out from the back and possesses powerful shots. Moreover, he is efficient in defensive contributions.
Since moving to the City Ground from Corinthians, Murillo has established himself as an undisputed starter. In 39 appearances across all competitions, he scored twice and kept eight clean sheets last campaign. This season, he has registered a solitary assist in six matches in all tournaments.
Murillo is a Premier League-proven player and is set to enter the prime stage of his career. Therefore, he might be a shrewd acquisition for Man Utd, Liverpool or Chelsea should any of those clubs purchase him.
